Water

Water helps sustain organic life on this planet. Yet when it comes to non-organic mechanical and electronic objects, water tends to be noxious and corrosive. Man-made objects are not alive. They do not need water. And in many cases water is harmful - computers, phones, watches, cars and bicycles (in the shape of rust) and so forth.

Of course, for us humans too, too much water is potentially a health hazard, not to mention the possibility of drowning. And of course unclean, contaminated water is especially harmful for humans, as one finds in Africa and poorer areas of the world. But the need for water remains, even though only a tiny minority of the earth's water supply is fit for human consumption.
